SPARE TIRE SAVER
STANDARD SERIES - BLACK MAX SERIES
SPARE TIRE THEFT PROTECTION
Lower spare tire for access to winch mechanism and frame cross-member. Note that winch mechanism is mounted to the inside of the C-channel frame cross-member. Locate the stamped 5/8” x 7/8” oblong hole in the vertical side of the cross-member located between the left side of the winch mechanism and spare tire support bracket.
Place the 3/8” x 1” hex head bolt through the center hole in the U-shaped mounting bracket. Attach the U-bracket to the frame cross-member using the provided locknut and flat washers. Position the U-bracket with the open sides aligned vertically as shown in both of the pictures.
The smaller, P225/75R15 and P235/55R16 tire sizes require the U-bracket to be installed with the mounting bolt at the upper end of the oblong hole in the frame, as shown in the picture at left. Larger tire sizes require the U-bracket to be installed with the mounting bolt at the lower end of the oblong hole.
Place the lock bar through the holes in both legs of the U-bracket, with the grooved end facing toward the left side frame rail. Place the crimp-ring retainer in the groove and crimp closed with pliers.
Raise the spare tire while allowing the lower end of the lock bar to pass through the lug hole least obstructed by the winch cable retaining plate in the center of the wheel. The lock bar must remain vertical as spare tire is returned to the full up/stored position.
STANDARD SERIES LOCKING INSTRUCTIONS: The PVC bar cover/seal is designed to center and hold the lock against the tapered surface of the lug hole. Hold lock inverted with the PVC cover/seal end up. Place lock over the end of the lock bar. Slide lock upward against the tapered surface of the lug hole and rotate to engage lock mechanism with the lock bar groove.
